I am rarely late for appointments and I'm actually pretty good with my time. I get to where I'm supposed to be before or exactly at the time that I'm supposed to be there. What I want is to be able to plan my day.

I want to do soooooo many things! I just don't have enough time to do all of them. I started thinking about how I spend my time on a regular day and realized that even though I accomplish all the things that I have to do everyday, I waste so much time doing things that I don't have to do.

Okay one example is I take at least 10 bathroom breaks just to check my hair or freshen up. That takes a lot of time if you add it all up. 5-6 minutes per break x 10 = an hour!!!

So what I should do is plan my days ahead. That's easier said than done I know but I believe it's worth a try.

People should know what their time is worth. So let's say you get paid 12 bucks an hour, and you waste 2 hours a day, that's $24 dollars a day that you're wasting. Multiply it by 5 (days of the week that you work) and then by 4 (weeks of the month that you work). That's $480 dollars worth of your time!

I'm giving out tips to help people who maybe are thinking of the same thing. KNOW WHAT YOUR TIME IS WORTH! That's the first thing.

Then make use of those wasted hours and do something more productive. Do something that will really benefit you.

I know routine can be boring for some but once you get used to a certain routine, it makes life so much easier. You get to do more things, less stress I believe, and you'll find that you get more time to relax too.

Now the real challenge is how to get myself to plan my days. I need to condition my mind to do this.

Ideas anyone?

"32 Traits of Creative People'

By Robert Alan Black, Ph.D.

http://www.creativity-portal.com/cca/alan-black/32-traits-creative-people.html

One of the traits Dr. Black mentioned that really struck me was 'self-knowledgeable'.

As written on the article:

Self-knowledgeable
“During my life I have read biographies and biographic sketches or over 4,000 people, mostly considered to be the highest of the highly creative in their respective fields. One of the few things they had in common is that they all kept some form of journal and were constantly striving to better understand themselves.”

I believe I am a creative person, and of all the 32 traits, I checked 22 (with some modesty on my part). I feel that being self-knowledgeable is the most important. I want to believe so much that I am self-knowledgeable, but I couldn't bring myself to check that particular trait. I think to be self-knowledgeable one must have a certain amount of discipline and the ability to fully concentrate on your own thoughts. Those are things that I lack.

I tried keeping a journal. In fact I made more than one attempt to do so, but to no avail. My thoughts are too scattered and I can't seem to budget my time to allow all my pursuits in life to have their time with me. I have so many interests, so many dreams!

I read in a recent yahoo article that to be more effective and productive, it is better to focus on one or a couple of things max than to multi-task. That saddened me a bit because I have always been a ‘multi-tasker’, and I've always believed that multi-tasking will get me further and faster on my way to achieving my goals. The reality of what I learned from that article struck me; I haven't been as productive as I wanted to be in a long time. I have so many things on my hands right now and yet I haven't even accomplished enough to say that I have actually made a difference in my life.

My main goal now is to be SELF-KNOWLEDGEABLE.

I'm so glad I found that article.

Consider this blog as another one of my many attempts to keep a diary. I must understand myself better. I hope this will be a journey that you all take with me.
